Decorah swimmer Gus Grimstad makes it to the podium at state meet

The Decorah boys swim team traveled to the University of Iowa Aquatic Center for the state meet on Saturday.

Individually sophomore Gus Grimstad had a great day as he made it to the podium for the first time in the 100 yard butterfly. Grimstad finished in 7th place with his time of 52.61. Grimstad also swam in the 100 yard backstroke, placing 11th with his time of 53.64.

The relay team of Gus Grimstad, Jackson Penny, Bradyn Hook, and Christian Johnson placed 22nd in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:43.45. Dowling Catholic of West Des Moines won the event in 1:32.67.

Decorah boys swim team placed 22nd overall with 18 points, and Ankeny won the meet with 226 points.
