The Decorah boys basketball team put up a tough fight Tuesday night, but Oelwein proved to be tough competition as usual this season. It was a close first quarter with Oelwein leading, 12-10. Halftime score the Huskies still led, 29-22. In the third quarter Oelwein scored 25 points to Decorah's 17 points. Both teams scored 18 points in the fourth quarter and the final score was 72-52.
"We give Oelwein credit, they hit some difficult shots and we didn't knock down our open shots, therefore you tip your cap and move on. Proud of our guys playing through adversity tonight, at an always tough place to play. We kept rowing the boat when there wasn't any wind blowing and the guys really showed some guts," praised head coach Jonathan Carlson.
Keaton Solberg was the lead scorer as he scored 13 points for the team, Sam Robinson was next with 11 points, and Pat Bockman scored 10 points.
The Vikings will face Charles City at home this Friday.
The Decorah boys basketball team is now 8-11 overall and 4-7 in the NEIC.
