Boys swim team is sending three entries to State Meet

The Decorah boys swim team placed 4th at the district swim meet in Linn-Marr on Saturday. The boys qualified for state in two individual events, and one relay medley.

Individually Gus Grimstad had a great meet as he qualified for state in the 100 yard butterfly, setting a new school record of 52.87 (2nd place), and in the 100 yard backstroke with his time of 53.76 (2nd place).

The relay team of Gus Grimstad, Jackson Penny, Bradyn Hook, and Christian Johnson placed 6th in the 200 yard medley relay with their time of 1:42.22, qualifying them for state.

Coach Laura Storlie exclaimed, "I'm very proud of all the boys. It was a very good meet."

Iowa City, West won the meet with 443 points, Cedar Rapids, Washington had 385 points, Linn-Marr, Marion had 339 points, Decorah 200, Burlington 193, Cedar Rapids, Kennedy 156, Cedar Rapids, Jefferson 129, and Keokuk 59.

The Vikings will compete at state this Saturday at the University of Iowa with events starting at 12:00 p.m.
