DHS athletes selected for academic all-state

Four Decorah High School seniors have been selected for academic all-state recognition in their respective fall activities for their success in competition and in the classroom.

Our first individual to recognize has been selected for the academic all-state cross country team.  In order to receive this honor members of the team must meet the following criteria:
1.      They must be a Senior
2.      They must have at least a 3.8 cumulative grade point average.
3.      They must score 28 or higher on the ACT exam.
4.      They must be an outstanding runner who has been a state qualifier or
placed in the top 30 at their State Qualifying Meet.
Senior runner Brayden Krivachek was 1 of 31 male student athletes statewide to receive this honor from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.  Brayden is the son of Shawn and Carmen Krivachek.

Our next two honorees have been selected for the academic all-state football team.  In order to receive this honor members of the team must meet the following criteria:
1.      They must be a Senior Starter
2.      They must have at least a Cumulative GPA of 3.7 or better at the end of their junior year.
3.      They must be involved in other extra-curricular activities.

Senior football players Ryan Schneberger and Drake Shelton were 2 of 88 student athletes from Class 3A to receive academic all-state honors from the Iowa Football Coaches Association.  Ryan is the son of Dennis and Charity Schneberger and Drake is the son of Eric and Jen Shelton.

Our final honoree has been selected for the academic all-state volleyball team.   In order to receive this honor members of the team must meet the following criteria:
1.      They must be a Senior
2.      They must have at least a Cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher
3.      They must have and ACT composite score of 27 or higher
4.      They must be involved in other extra-curricular activities.

Senior volleyball player Allison Groux was one of 118 seniors from across the state to earn this honor from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.  Allie is the daughter of Doug and Sarah Groux.
