Decorah girls bowling team loses to Tripoli by just 31 pins

It was a close match on Friday as the Decorah girls bowling team hosted Tripoli. The final score was Tripoli 2,432 to Decorah 2,401.

"Girls varsity lost a close match to a very good team. We scored a 2,401--the highest in program history! Maddie Putnam (369), Lexie Hauber (353), and Katherine Bruening (313) led the way. Alexis Svestka was 10-10 in the baker rounds and Maddie Putnam was outstanding in the bakers. We're coming along fine, we still miss opportunities that come up, but 2,401 goes to state, a year ago. The girls are doing an outstanding job and are getting better daily," commented head coach Keith Bruening.

Audrey Casterton bowled a 287 in her two games and Alexis Svestka had a 279.

The Vikings are 4-3 in the Northeast Iowa conference.

The girls jv won by forfeit. They scored 2,040. Morah Grinna led the way with a 283, and Grace Gerleman had a 272.

On Friday the team will travel to Forest City whose team is currently 5-1 in the North Iowa conference.
