Viking wrestlers do well at Flanagan Invitational at Cresco

The Decorah Vikings were one of 12 teams to compete Saturday at the Flanagan Wrestling Invitational at Crestwood High School in Cresco.
Viking head coach Jeff Freidhof was pleased with his squad's performance, noting, "we changed around some matches that we had lost earlier in the year and we were able to close the gap in some other ones."
The Vikings were led by Jackson Rolfs at 132 pounds, who had a very solid win over a Minnesota state qualifier to make the finals and by Andy Murphy at 195 pounds, who put together a solid match in the finals, losing by only a point to a returning state qualifier. Also doing well for Decorah were Kyzer Engen at 126 pounds and Dawson Palmer at 182 pounds, both of whom finished 3rd.
--106 pounds: Austin Wilkins won by sudden victory; lost by technical fall 19-4 at 3:31;lost by fall at 3:50; and finished 5th by winning a 9-6 decision.
--113 pounds: Jacob Voigt lost by fall at 3:15; and lost by fall at 1:05.
--126 pounds: Kyzer Engen won by fall at 1:52; lost a 4-3 decision; won by fall at 1:28; and finished 3rd by winning by fall at 1:50.
--132 pounds: Jackson Rolfs won by fall at 1:06; won a 9-5 decision; and finished 2nd after losing by fall at 3:05.
--138 pounds: Mason Olsgard lost a 4-1 decision; won by technical fall, 15-0, at 2:50; lost in sudden victory, 6-4; and finished 5th by winning by fall at 2:53.
--152 pounds: Brendan Lovstuen won by fall at 3:37; lost by fall at 5:25 and had two medical forfeits
--160 pounds: Garrett Lovstuen lost by fall at 3:28; and lost by fall at 5:26.
--170 pounds: Elijah Mitchell won a 9-4 decision; lost by fall at 1:37; lost in sudden victory, 5-1; and finished in 5th place by winning a 4-0 decision.
--170 pounds: Nate Rolfs lost by fall at 1:36 and lost by fall at 1:56.
--170 pounds: Cael Gulrud lost by fall at 0:35 and lost by fall at 2:38.
--182 pounds: Dawson Palmer won by fall at 1:20; lost a 6-3 decision; won by fall at 2:24 and finished 3rd by winning a 12-4 major decision.
--195 pounds: Andy Murphy won by fall at 2:26; won an 11-2 major decision; and finished 2nd after losing a 4-3 decision.
--285 pounds: Daniel lost by fall at 3:27; won by fall at 1:04; lost a 6-0 decision and finished 5th by winning by fall at 0:19.
