It was a good weekend at State Competition for the Decorah Vikings swim team

It was an exciting weekend at State competition for the Decorah girls swimming and diving team as they competed on Friday in individual prelims and on Saturday in diving, individual, and relay competition.

In the individual events Emma Bachelder led the Vikings, as she has all season. Bachelder finished 9th in the 50 yard freestyle, breaking the school record with her time of 24.30. Bachelder also finished 9th in the 100 yard breaststroke finishing in 1:07.03, earning 9 points in each event for the team score.

Margaret Rhodes swam prelims in the 500 yard freestyle. Rhodes finished 27th with her time of 5:28.37, not fast enough to qualify for finals (the top 16 qualify for finals).

Jessica Ling finished 21st in diving competition with 182.55 points.

In relay events the Vikings team of Emily Voyna, Kiana Folkedahl, Meridian Snitker, and Emma Bachelder finished 21st with their time of 1:43.22 in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

In the 400 yard freestyle relay Emily Voyna, Kiana Folkedahl, Margaret Rhodes, and Emma Bachelder finished in 20th place in 3:46.12.

The Vikings finished in 22nd place with 18 points, tying with Southeast Polk. Ames won the meet with 372 points.
