Decorah girls cross country team opens their season with the Luther All-American

The Luther All- American course was muddy in places from all the rain, but it was a beautiful day for a cross country meet on Saturday. The varsity girls placed 8th out of 26 teams in their first competition of the year.

Junior Shayla Betts led the Vikings as she crossed the finish line in 20:49.1 in 20th place overall. Sophomore Leila Johnson was 57th with a time of 21:46.1. Junior Britta Swanson was 61st with her time of 21:52.3. Junior Brooke Courtney was 71st with her time of 22:10.3. Junior Annette Leschensky was 78th finishing in 22.19.9. 190 varsity girls competed on Saturday.

"I was pleased with many performances. It was great to finally get to compete," commented head coach Cristy Nimrod.
