The Decorah Viking girls swim team traveled to Waterloo for the 4th annual Waterloo Trohawk Swimming and Diving Invitational on Saturday. Decorah won the meet with 212 points. Waterloo was second with 124 points, Vinton-Shellsburg/Union had 101 points, Ottumwa had 85 points, and Keokuk had 12 points.
The relay team of Emily Voyna, Emma Bachelder, Margaret Rhodes, and Destiny Berns placed first in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.97.
Kiana Folkedahl won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:14.94. Emma Bachelder won the 50 yard freestyle in 25.70, and the 100 yard freestyle in 55.16.
Margaret Rhodes placed first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 6:00.94, and the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.58.
Emma Bachelder, Destiny Berns, Kiana Folkedahl, and Emily Voyna won the 400 yard freestyle relay with their time of 3:59.77.
"I was very pleased with how the team did today at Waterloo," said coach Allie Bachelder. "We have been working on different aspects of their strokes and it showed in their races today. I changed up the order in some of the relays and I was very happy with the results. We were able to drop a significant amount of time off the 400 free relay by changing up the order. Overall this team raced very well today."
