The Decorah freshmen football team lost to the Waukon freshmen and sophomore squad in a home game on Monday.

"Our freshmen faced the Waukon freshmen and sophomore squad. Their size proved hard to move the ball against the ground. We did have some success throwing the ball. Our defense did a pretty good job of slowing them down. We had a couple scoring opportunities where we turned the ball over, and so we'll try to clean that up in the future," commented coach Scott Pierce.

Joe Bockman caught a pass from quarterback Keenan Tyler and Bockman ran 26 yards for the touchdown. Final score was Waukon 14, Decorah 6, as the game was halted early in the third quarter due to lightning.

The Vikings will host the Cedar Rapids Xavier freshmen Thursday night at 6:00pm.
