Decorah Girls Swimming and Diving Team finishes in fourth place at Dubuque Senior Relays over the weekend

The Decorah girls swimming and diving team competed at Dubuque Senior Relays on Saturday with six other teams. Final scores were Bettendorf 106 points, Wahlert Catholic 88, Dubuque Senior 65, Decorah 64, Davenport 52, Dubuque Hempstead 42, and Plateville 35.

Coach Bachelder said, "I was pleased with how the team competed in Dubuque today. There were some tough teams and we raced well. It was an all relay meet which is exciting for the girls and gets them bonded as a team in the beginning of the season. There are many swimmers racing well and looking to fill the varsity positions in the relays."

The top finish came from the 300 yard back relay team of Margaret Rhodes, Destiny Berns, and Emily Vonya as they finished in second place with a time of 3:31.70.

Other top races included third place finishes in the 200 yard free relay, the 300 yard fly relay, and the 300 yard breast relay.

The diving team of Bettendorf took first place with 318.70, Decorah finished in second place with 312.30 points, Dubuque Senior 301.80, Hempstead 290.00, and Wahlert 193.50 points.

The jv swim team finished in fourth place with 51 points, two points behind Dubuque Senior. The jv diving team was third with 141.35 points.

On Thursday the swimming and diving team will have a home meet at Luther beginning at 6:00 p.m. as they face Waterloo East.
