The Decorah Viking volleyball team traveled to Wisconsin on Tuesday night as the 2018 season began.

The Vikings were on the short end of a 25-12, 24-26, 25-8, 25-18 score, with the Blackhawks taking three out of four sets.

Emma Niergarten had 15 successful serves, 4 kill shots, and 2 solo blocks. Ambria Pipho had 3 kill shots, and 6 set assists. Grace Syverson had 16 defensive digs, and Alli Groux had 10 successful serves.

Coach Gina Holthaus commented, "We just never got into our game. PDC has a very nice senior dominated squad and our inexperience showed tonight. As we talked about we are still trying to figure out a line up so we had a lot of different looks tonight. I know that the girls will come into the gym today ready to get better as they are not satisfied with their performance either. Hopefully,  we got all the first game jitters our and we will be ready to go on Saturday morning."

Decorah will travel to the Charles City Tournament on Saturday.
