Decorah graduate Kassie Hoyme receives Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award

Kassie Hoyme is a Track & Field Athlete for Illinois State and got the Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award.
Kassie was one of 106 Missouri Valley Conference student-athletes to receive the league's highest academic honors.  The Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade point average through the Spring 2018 semester.
Kassie also was named to the MVC 2017-2018 Honor Roll, which recognized academic achievements of student-athletes.

Hoyme was a three-year letter winner at Decorah High School and a three-time state qualifier in shot put and discus.  At the 2013 state meet she placed 11th in the shot put and 17th in the discus.  In the 2014 state meet she finished in 5th place in the shot put and 3rd in the discus.  Hoyme is the Decorah High School record holder in shot put.
