This marks the 17th year head coach Cristy Nimrod has coached the Decorah girls cross country team.

Five varsity runners graduated--Katie Nimrod, Jenna Galligan, Sarah MIkkelson, Kaitlyn Rooney and Allie Hafner.  That leaves juniors Shayla Betts and Meg Sessions to provide leadership, along with any other runners who step up.  Coach Nimrod commented, "We graduated a lot of experience and will be looking for new leadership."

"I am excited to see what this team will do," says Nimrod, adding, "Many have put in a lot of miles this year. They have a great attitude. Charles City returns a really good team and Waukon also returns many runners. We hope to also be a contender for conference champs. We will need to work hard, stay healthy and develop leadership to attain the goals that we want."

Last year the Vikings won Conference and Regional and placed third at State.

The Decorah Viking girls cross country team will have their first cross country meet on Tuesday, August 28th, at Oelwein.
