Viking baseball team notches win against Waverly

The Decorah Viking baseball team scored two runs in the first inning and kept the scoring going after that, en route to a 6-3 home victory over Waverly-Shell Rock Tuesday night.

Brannan Hogan was the winning pitcher, notching eight strikeouts and issuing no walks.  He was also 2-4 at the plate with one RBI.  Drake Shelton also went 2-4, with a home run, a double, and two RBIs.  Ian Smith also went 2-4, with a double and 2 RBIs.

The Vikings are now 3-1 on the season.  They will travel to West Union for a game against North Fayette-Valley Wednesday night.

The Viking junior varsity also won Tuesday night, beating Waverly 4-3.
