The Decorah Viking boys soccer squad took a 1-0 lead into the second half of its playoff game Friday at home against Hudson thanks to a spectacular header goal from sophomore Galen Iverson. However, the 11th-ranked Vikings surrendered a Hudson goal with 11:28 left in regulation play. That sent the game into sudden death overtime, and eventually to a penalty kick shootout. 9th-ranked Hudson prevailed, winning the match 4-3.

Decorah ends its season 11-7, just missing what would have been their first trip to the state tournament since 2010.
