Luther College Begins NCAA III National Softball Tournament vs. MIT

The NCAA Division III National Softball Championship bracket has been released and Luther College (40-9) will begin the eight-team double elimination tournament against Massachusetts Institute of Technology (38-9-1) on Thursday, May 24th at 1:30 p.m. Luther is the No. 5 seed of the tournament and MIT is the No. 4 seed.
 
The National Championships will take place at the USA Hall of Fame Complex, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma May 24th-29th.
 
Luther is making its eighth national tournament appearance, fifth under the direction of Head Coach Renae Hartl, all in the past nine years. Hartl is in her 17th year as head coach and has compiled a career record of 554-180 entering the national finale.
 
The Norse advanced to the national tournament after defeating No. 7 University of St. Thomas in the Decorah, Iowa Super Regional. This three-game series went the distance with Luther winning game one 3-1, St. Thomas winning game two 11-8, and Luther winning game three 10-4.
 
Luther has placed fourth at the national tournament (1985, 1990), fifth (1991, 2010, 2012) and seventh (2011, 2013).
