A Decorah girls tennis doubles team qualifies for state

The Decorah girls tennis doubles team of Carina Yee and Vita Domnenko has qualified for the individual state tennis meet to be held in Waterloo May 30th and 31st. The senior duo finished as runners-up at the Regional meet in Decorah Wednesday, securing their spot for state.

Decorah's other doubles team, Mara Frieden and Alli Groux, finished third and will go to state if one of the other two teams drops out.

Decorah's singles players, Josie Kleckner and Soleil Smith, were not able to qualify for State.  Josie won her opening round match, but lost her second round match, while Soleil lost her opening round.

The State Tennis Meets will be held May 30th & 31st in Waterloo at Byrnes Park.

Singles:
Josie Kleckner won 6-0, 6-1, then lost 1-6, 1-6
Soleil Smith lost 3-6, 2-6.

Doubles:
Carina Yee and Vita Domnenko won 6-0, 6-0, then won 6-0, 6-0, then won 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, then lost 6-7, 6-7.
Mara Frieden and Alli Groux won 6-2, 6-3, won 4-6, 6-0, 6-1, lost 3-6, 0-6, then won 6-1, 6-4.
