Girls golf squad plays short-handed, finishes third at Charles City

The Decorah Viking girls golf team played short-handed on Monday in Charles City after two varsity players went home sick after lunch and the Vikings had only four golfers.

Decorah finished with a 221, behind Clear Lake, which won the tournament with a 212, and Charles City, which finished second with a 216.

Decorah was led by Audrey Casterton, who shot a 51, and Ann Meirick, who had a 52.  Emma Fretheim shot a 57 for the Vikings and Tori Hines had a 61.

The Vikings will play next Monday in a 3A Regional Final at Waverly. It is a 12 team, state qualifying event.
