The Decorah Viking girls tennis team played their best tennis of the season Saturday morning in Decorah against Charles City at Regionals.

The Vikings forced the Comets to make many mistakes and took a 5-0 victory in the first round of Regionals.  Carina Yee, Mara Frieden, Alli Groux, Mya Herrmann and Soleil Smith all won their singles matches.

That sent the Vikings into the finals of the Regional, but the story was much different this time as a solid Dubuque Wahlert team beat the Vikings 5-1 and ended Decorah's team season.  The Vikings came up short in two tie-breakers which would have sent the competition into doubles play to determine the team winner.

On Wednesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Decorah will host the Regional Individual Singles and Doubles Tournament.  The first place and second place individuals in each bracket will qualify for the State Tournament May 30th and 31st in Des Moines.
