Ossian native named Coach of the Year

South Winneshiek High School and Luther College graduate Darin Monroe, the head coach of the Rock Valley College Golden Eagles softball team, has been named the Region IV Coach of the Year for the sixth straight year.

Monroe is in his seventh season as the head softball coach at Rock Valley College.  He has led the Golden Eagles to unprecedented success, including winning four straight NJCAA DIII National Championships - the first NJCAA softball program to accomplish this feat. The Golden Eagles this month are competing for a fifth straight National Championship.

In six seasons, Monroe's team have compiled a 310-61 overall record, which also includes five consecutive N4C conference championships.  His staff has won four consecutive National Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
