The Decorah Viking girls golf team had started playing the back nine holes of a golf course in Winona Thursday afternoon when the rains came.  That shortened the 18-hole dual to 9-holes.

Winona Senior HIgh School was declared the winner, 194 to 233.  Ann Meirick led the Vikings with a 48, with Tori Hines carding a 53.  Head coach Scott Pierce says several other girls played pretty well, with the exception of a hole or two. "We're trying to shore up that one shot or two that leads to big numbers," he says.  Audrey Casterton, Sydney Byrnes and Olivia Fahey all had 66s, while Emma Fretheim shot a 70.  Mary Golly shot a 59 among junior varsity golfers, with Izzy Elwood shooting a 64 and Lily McGohan finishing with a 73.

Monday will be the NEIC girls tournament in Cresco, with play beginning at 10:00 a.m.
