JV boys track and field team competes at South Winneshiek

On Monday night the Decorah boys jv track and field team headed to South Winneshiek and competed against varsity teams including Turkey Valley, South Winn-Calmar, Postville and West Central.

The Vikings finished in fourth place with 57 points. Turkey Valley was first with 181 points, South Winn-Calmar had 179 points, Postville had 79 points, and West Central had 32 points.

Points were scored in the 100 meter dash by Solomon Thompson, in the 200 meter dash by Nick Einck, and in the 400 meter dash by Ethan Frana.

Drew Frana won the 400 meter hurdles with his time of 1:06.43.

The field events also scored points for Decorah. In the discus Ethan Frana was sixth with a throw of 98 feet. James Groux placed fifth in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet, 2 inches.  Josh Nierengarten was third in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 8 inches. Elijah Mitchell was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 35 feet.

Five relay teams scored points for Decorah including the 4 x 100 team, 4 x 200 team, 4 x 400 team, sprint medley team and the distance medley team.
