Decorah boys golf team has its best round of the season so far

The Decorah Viking boys golf team is hitting its stride at just the right time of the season.

The Vikings defeated Caledonia, 168 to 210, at Silvercrest Country Club in Decorah Monday.  The team score of 168 was the best of the season so far.  Commented Coach Rich Gaard, "It was a very good score, considering the gusty winds of 20-30 mph."

Medalist of the meet was Decorah's Jay Fjelstul, with a two over par 38. Runner-up medalist was Decorah's Tom Knoke with a 41.  Other scores for Decorah were: Jarod Redenius. 44; Jared Holthaus 45; Tristan Jostand. 49; Blake Donlon. 51; Nolan Jostand. 51; Jackson Rollins. 53; Nate Rolfs. 55; Michael Cook. 55; Nate Darling. 55; Jackson Rolfs  58; Chance Elton. 63; Christian Carlson. 64; Ayden Gossman. 66; and Parker Monroe 90.

The Vikings will host Waverly-Shell Rock Thursday afternoon at Oneota G&CC, then will host a six-team tournament Friday morning at Oneota.
