It's been difficult for the Decorah Viking boys tennis time to get playing time this spring.  On Thursday--the only somewhat-good day of weather in April, the Vikings swept their singles matches in a meet against Viroqua, on their way to a 7-2 victory.

Aidan Hunter and Billy Lange showed they deserve the #1 and #2 singles spots, as they both earned 6-1, 6-1 victories.  The rest of the Viking singles players had to work harder, but prevailed.  Joe Holland won a 7-5, 6-4 decision, while Kai Spencer-Berg needed a tiebreaker for his 6-4, 5-7, (10-6) win.  Rex Huinker at #5 singles won 6-3, 7-5, while Gabe Anderson also won on a tiebreaker, 6-1, 6-7(5), (10-0).

In doubles play, Holland and Spencer-Berg lost 4-6, 1-6 and Hayden Carlson and Finn Dean-Lester dropped a 2-6, 4-6 decision, while Rex Huinker and Gabe Anderson took a 6-1, 6-4 victory.

Said head coach Reg Laursen, "I was extremely proud of Joe Holland, Kaj SpencerBerg, Rex Huinker and Gabe Anderson, who all pulled out victories.  Only Joe from this group had much match experience last year so for ALL of them to prevail was a real feat."

Decorah JV players Jesus Pena, Will Schwarz, Edwin Holyoake, Angel Pena, Bryan Anderson, Noah Tapscott, Luke Walter, Nic Reilly, Conner Cook, Owen Henning and Benton Sparrow got in on the action resulting in 7 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw.
