Decorah Viking boys track team takes fourth place at the West Delaware Invitational Friday

The Decorah Viking boys track & field squad had top three finishes in eight out of the 19 events Friday at the West Delaware Invite in Manchester--and the result was a fourth place finish out of 11 teams.

The Vikings took gold in two relay events.  Dawson Holkesvik, Austin Myli, Clay Johansen and Jackson Varney finished the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3:34.08, two seconds ahead of Center Point-Urbana.  Holkesvik, Myli, Varney and Andrew Kephart finished the distance medley in 3:37.90--15 seconds faster than second place North Linn.

Other top finishes by the Vikings were Keaton Solberg's tie for first place in the high jump, with a jump of 6 feet; Gus Hayes and Rye Hawley finishing second and third in the 3,200 meter run; Andy Lillegraven finishing third in the shot put with a toss of 49 feet 4 inches; Jason Adam, Mikel Fullhart, Jackson Varney and Dawson Holkesvik finishing second in the 800 Sprint Medley; and Logan Halverson, Josh Nierengarten, Erick Fadness and Andy Lillegraven finishing second in the 4 x 100.25 meter weightman relay.
