Philip Ihde advances at the State Wrestling Tournament

Decorah senior wrestler Philip Ihde remains undefeated on the season.

Ihde began State Wrestling Tournament competition Thursday by beating Kolby Hulett, a freshman from Creston/O-M, winning by fall at 5:41.  Ihde will now face Jalen Schropp from Williamsburg.

Decorah's other two wrestlers at the State Tournament didn't fare as well.  At 195 pounds, Andy Lillegraven lost his opening match by fall at 4:23 to undefeated senior Bryce Esmoil of West Liberty.  That put Lillegraven into the consolation bracket, where he lost by fall at 5:41 to Kade Hambly of Clear Lake.  At 113 pounds, Kyzer Engen lost by fall at 2:42 to Jason Peta of Estherville Lincoln Central, then in the consolation round, dropped a 5-0 decision to Brock Beck from Grinnell.
