Decorah wrestlers dominate Waukon

The Decorah Viking wrestling squad started the new year right on Thursday, dominating Waukon in Waukon, winning a 67-9 decision.

The Vikings won all but two of the weight classes.  Tom Knoke won by fall at 0:27 at 160 pounds; Mason Olsgard won by fall at 2:26 at 120 pounds; Philip Ihde won by fall at 2:39 at 126 pounds; Dawson Headington won by fall at 5:33 at 132 pounds; and Mikel Fullhart won by fall at 1:47 at 152 pounds.  The Vikings were also helped by five Waukon forfeits.

Decorah is now 2-2 in the NEIC and 4-3 overall.  The Vikings will take part in the Crestwood Tournament on Saturday, then will compete in a triangular next Thursday at Crestwood before hosting their own tournament next Saturday.

106 pounds: Luke Dieschbourg won a 12-0 major decision
113 pounds: Kyzer Engen won by forfeit
120 pounds: Mason Olsgard won by fall at 2:26
126 pounds: Philip Ihde won by fall at 2:39
132 pounds: Dawson Headington won by fall at 5:33
138 pounds: Nils Holkesvik lost a 14-1 major decision
145 pounds: Brendan Lovstuen won by forfeit
152 pounds: Mikel Fullhart won by fall at 1:47
