The Decorah boys basketball team is gearing up for its season.

Head Coach Jonathan Carlson along with Gunnar Rollins, Jim Heick, and Jerry Robinson will be coaching the Vikings this year.

"We are excited to enjoy the process of trying to get 1% better each day in everything we do. If we can commit ourselves to pounding the stone on a consistent basis and be mentally engaged with where our feet are every day, we can have success. We have a great group of young men with a lot of potential and we are grateful for the opportunity to coach them on a daily basis," said head coach Jonathan Carlson.

Four seniors and one sophomore are returning letter winners for the Vikings. Senior Nick Bockman is a point guard who averaged 14 points per game and was named 1st Team All-Conference. Senior Jerod Redenius plays forward/center and averaged 11 points per game and was named 2nd Team All-Conference. Senior Jonah Johnson is a shooting guard who averaged 5 points per game. Sophomore Patrick Bockman is a shooting guard who averaged 4 points per game. Senior Austin Myli is a shooting guard/forward who averaged 2 points per game.

Consistency on the defensive end and finding consistent production off the bench are a couple things the team will be working on this year. Team strengths include good nucleus returns, adequate size, and good competition for positions.

The Vikings first game will be at Dubuque Wahlert on Monday, December 4th.
