Decorah High School three year letter winner Hailey Nierling on Monday morning signed her national letter of intent to attend school at Southwest Minnesota State University and to join the school's track and field team.

Nierling has participated in track and field, softball, cheerleading and FFA at Decorah High School.  She says she was contacted by SMSU and liked the small town feel of the campus when she made her first visit.  She says she liked the school's coach and the family aspect of the track & field team.

Hailey was part of the Decorah Viking squad that qualified for the 2017 State Class 3A Track & Field Meet.  She placed 7th in the shot put.

Hailey is the daughter of Matt and Jolene Nierling of Decorah.
