Boys golf team continues to win

The Decorah Viking boys golf team continued their winning ways Thursday by defeating Oelwein 145 to 172.

Medalist of the meet was Andrew Peter with a one under par 34.  Gunnar Rollins of Decorah had his best round of the year, an even par 35.  Rounding out the team scores were Maynard Newhouse with a 37, Sam Lewey with a 39, Nick Nelson with a 41 and Drew Olinger with a 43.

"I was happy the way our team played Edgewater Golf course... none our golfers had played the course before and had to stay focused on every hole." commented Coach Rich Gaard.

The JV team was also victorious, defeating Oelwein 168 to 193.  Medalists of the JV were Michael Peter and Peter Kephart with 41s.  Mike Cary shot a 43, Brendon Kacher had a 44, Eric Fulsaas shot a 46 and Lee Rollins had a 50.

The Varsity golf team is now 8-1.  The Vikes will be playing at South Winneshiek on Friday.
