Boys golf team plays at Chaska, Caledonia
On a perfect day for golf, the Decorah Vikings boys golf team traveled to the Twin Cities Monday for the Chaska Boys Golf Invitational.  The Vikings finished with a 349--good for tenth place.  Andrew Peter had a 36-46=82; Dusty Steffen  43-43=86; Bryan Lowery  45-43=88; Drew Olinger  42-51=93; Gunnar Rollins  50-46=96; and Aaron Boutte  50-52=102.
 
The meet was won by the host Chaska High School boys golf team.  They shot a record 4 under par 284.  Alex Ross of Chaska shot 5 under 67 on his home course (par 72), with teammate Charlie West 2 under 70.  Said Viking Coach Rich Gaard, "It's probably one of the best high school 18 hole individual and team rounds I've seen in years and is probably a Minnesota record for high school golf."

Also Monday, the Decorah junior varsity traveled to Caledonia, taking a 195-199 decision.  Mike Cary and Nick Harless shot 46s; Adam Suckow had a 51; Andrew Meyer shot a 52; Jason Olson had a 53; and Bryce Hoyme shot a 54.
