Girls tennis team third at Camanche
The Decorah High School girls tennis team got to face last year's Iowa Class 1A second place team at Camanche on Saturday.  Gusty winds made the day a bit of an adventure.

Head coach Larry Berland said, "If Decorah is to compete successfully against Camanche we are going to have to improve our skill levels and match strategy approach."  The Vikings finished with 20.5 points, behind Camanche's 34.5 points and Clinton's 21 points.

Karissa Shindelar won at #6 singles, taking 8-0, 8-4 and 8-2 decisions against three opponents.  Logan Thompson finished second at #4 singles, winning 8-0 and 8-0 before losing to Camanche's Lindsey Nissen 2-8.  Erica Munkel finished second at #5 singles with 8-2 and 8-6 victories before losing the final match 3-8.

At #1 singles, Jenny Dallenbach won 8-6 before losing 0-8 and 3-8.  Laura Reutlinger won 8-2 at #2 singles before losing 6-8 and 3-8.  At #3 singles Siri Hedstrom won 8-0 before losing 4-8 and 0-8.

Dallenbach and Munkel finished second at #2 doubles with 8-3 and 8-6 victories before losing 1-8 in the finals.  Thompson and Shindelar finished second at #3 doubles, winning 8-0 and 8-6, then losing 6-8.  Reutlinger and Hedstrom finished fourth at #1 doubles with a 9-7 victory and 4-8 and 5-8 losses.
