girls track team ran away with the title at the Waukon
Indian Relays on Tuesday, scoring 166 points and beating
second-place New Hampton by 37 points. Oelwein
finished third, Charles City was fourth, Waukon 5th,
Crestwood 6th, Elkader Central seventh and MFL/Mar-Mac was
eighth. Decorah had
five first place finishes and six second place finishes in
the 19 event meet. Chelsea Humpal won both the shot
put and the discus, with a shot put of 37 feet 4 inches and
a discus toss of 112 feet 7.5 inches. Decorah's
powerhouse relay teams again did well, with victories in the
4 x 800 relay, distance medley relay and shuttle hurdle
relay and second place finishes in the 4 x 200 relay, 4 x
400 relay and the sprint medley relay. Other second
place finishes came from Amber Krieger in the 400 meter
dash, Sara Nelson in the 100 meter hurdles and Kelsey Strand
in the 200 meter dash. |
