Viking girls track team battles elements in Waverly
The snow was falling.  The temperature was falling as well.  It wasn't an ideal setting for a track meet, but the Decorah High School girls track team turned in a strong performance nevertheless.

The meet Tuesday afternoon at Waverly was not a scored meet, but the Vikings took home eight first place finishes out of 19 events in the four-team field.  Chelsea Humpal and Mallory Broderick finished first and second in the shot put, while Humpal won the discus.  As always, Decorah did well in the relays, winning the 4 x 100 and the 4 x 400 and finishing second in the 4 x 800.  The Vikings also had four first place finishes in the individual running events--Kelsey Strand in the 200 meter dash, Sierra Klimesh in the 400 meter dash, Eden Ehm in the 1,500 meter run and Moran Lonning in the 3,000 meter run.
