Viking girls golf battle elements for win
The temperature was 37 degrees.  The winds were gusting to 25 miles an hour.  It wasn't ideal golf weather on Monday!

Nevertheless, the Decorah Viking girls came away with a victory at Charles City.  Said coach Scott Pierce, "The weather made for a tough first meet for many newcomers but we played through it and came away with a varsity victory.  It's always nice to win even when you don't perform at your best. We know what we need to work on but can still enjoy the win."

Decorah's nine stroke victory was led by Hailey Spilde, who won runner-up medalist honors by shooting a 54.  Elizabeth Sherin shot a 57, while Rylee Rollins had 60, Kayla Hemesath shot a 66, Kelsey Wyckoff had a 69 and Annelise Keune shot a 72.  Decorah JV scores were Danielle Fulsaas, 75; Sara Brownrigg, 76; Kari Peterson, 79; Destyn Bonelli, 79; Alisha Breeser, 81; and Kyla Leliefeld, 85.
