| The weather was
chilly Monday afternoon at Viking Stadium in Decorah, but
the Decorah Viking boys track team didn't let that bother
it. The Vikings won their seven-team track meet,
piling up 121 points to New Hampton's 111. Elkader
Central was third, followed by Waukon, Oelwein, South
Winneshiek and MFL/Mar-Mac.
Decorah had eight first place finishes. Brett Van
Sloten won both the shot put and discus throw, while Steven
Drost won the high jump. Decorah's 4 x 800, 4 x 400
and 4 x 100 weightmen relay teams finished first. Evan
Neubauer won the 3,200 meter run with a time of 10:21.01.
Paul Domnenko ran the 100 meter dash in 11.99.
Decorah High School's junior varsity
team also did well, with five first place finishes,
including firsts in the 4 x 800 and 4 x 400 relays.
