| The Luther
College softball team suffered two heartbreaking losses to
#25-ranked Simpson College Friday, dropping a 3-2 decision
in 11 innings in game one and a 2-1 decision in nine innings
in the second game. The Norse
rebounded on Saturday by
sweeping the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Eagles 5-2
and 3-2 in 8 innings. In game one, Luther's Jackie
Miller went 2-for-4 at the plate and sparked both a two-run
second inning and a three-run seventh inning. In game
two, Tami Magner scored the game winner in the top of the
eighth, when Ashley Hoffman's single to left field was
misplayed, allowing Magner to score from second base.
Luther is now 3-3 in the Iowa
Conference and 17-7 overall. The Norse will return to
Iowa Conference action on Tuesday, April 8th, when they will
travel to the University of Dubuque for a twin bill that
will begin at 3:00 p.m. |
