Viking boys soccer team opens season in a convincing manner
The Decorah High School boys soccer team showed no signs of rust in its first game of the year on Thursday.  The Vikings easily handled Western Dubuque 11-0 in a game played at Decorah.

Gavin Wicks scored three goals for the Vikings--at 5 minutes, assisted by Brandon Felde; at 16 minute, assisted by Andy Sacquitne; and at 17 minutes, assisted by Brock Arend.  Arend scored two of his own goals--at 14 minutes, assisted by Chris Wanless; and at 55 minutes, assisted by Jordan Houdek.  Chris Wanless also had two goals--at 29 minutes, assisted by Colling White and at 57 minutes assisted by Andy Sacquitne.

Decorah's remaining four goals were scored by Zach Kerndt assisted by Marty Cornelius at 22 minutes; by Jackson Stalberger on a penalty kick at 27 minutes; by Dane Huinker assisted by Jackson Stalberger at 47 minutes; and by Brandon Felde assisted by Colling White at 50 minutes.
