Decorah girls tennis team finishes 2nd at Cedar Rapids
The first meet of the season went fairly well for the Decorah Viking girls tennis team, all things considered.  The Vikings headed to Cedar Rapids on Saturday to take on last year's Class 2A girls tennis champions, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, as well as Waterloo West.  The Vikings finished with 29 points, just four points behind Kennedy, 14 points ahead of Kennedy's reserve team and 20 points ahead of Waterloo West.

Karissa Shindelar and Angela Krieger both won all three of their singles matches.  The remaining singles players--Laura Reutlinger, Jenny Dallenbach, Logan Thompson and Erica Munkel--and the three doubles teams all finished second.

Head coach Larry Berland said, "It was a good first meet.  We will have to improve if we want to think about finishing high at the state meet.  That is why we have more meets between now and then."  The Vikings will face Cedar Rapids Kennedy again on Saturday at Waterloo.
