Decorah girls and boys track teams compete at Luther High School Invitational
The track season has begun for the Decorah High School boys and girls track teams.  The squads took part in the Luther College High School Invitational at Luther on Saturday.

Once again, the girls team was led by its medley teams.  The Viking girls won the 4 x 200 meter relay, the 4 x 800 meter relay and the 1600 Sprint Medley and finished second and third in the 4 x 400 meter relay.  In the 400 meter dash, Decorah's Sierra Klimesh was first, followed by Decorah's Megan Mc Donough and Devon Hovey.  The Viking girls also had four of the top six finishes in the 55 meter hurdles, with Sarah Nelson 2nd, Megan Mc Donough 3rd, Maria Wetli 5th and Allison Mitchell 6th.

Other top girls finishes included Sarah Nelson third in the 55 meter dash; Allie Canoy 3rd in the 200 meter dash; Karli Ramstad third in the long jump; Amanda Twait third in the shot put; Megan Mc Donough third in the high jump and a second place finish by the 4 x 55 meter shuttle hurdle.

The Viking boys were led by a first place finish by Brett Van Sloten in the shot put.  Christopher Harrell had a second place finish in the long jump, Robert Jewell had a second place finish in the high jump and Marty Mitchell finished second in the 800 meter run.  Other top boys finishes included a second place finish by the 4 x 400 meter relay team, a second place finish by the Distance Medley team, a third place finish by the 4 x 200 meter relay team and a third place finish by Casey Smith in the 200 meter dash.

Both the boys and girls track teams will return to Luther College for another meet on Tuesday.
