Girls JV basketball team loses to Waukon, beats Oelwein
The Decorah High School girls junior varsity basketball team lost to Waukon last Tuesday, but beat Oelwein on Friday night.

The Decorah versus Waukon game was a low-scoring affair.  Waukon took a 21-10 lead at halftime, but Decorah held the Indians to zero points in the third quarter and clawed back to within five points.  However, the Viking JV was unable to overcome the Waukon lead.

Head coach Cindy Albers said, "We outscored them in the second half, but they had built a substantial lead at 11 points at halftime.  That, along with our low shooting percentage, kept up just out of reach."

On Friday night the girls junior varsity team played good defense and defeated Oelwein 47-21.  The Huskies were held to just 12 points in the first half and 9 points in the second half.

Sara Brownrigg led the junior varsity with 9 points, while Lean Broderick and Kaitlyn Svestka had 6 points each.
