9th grade boys basketball team goes 3-0 on the week
The Decorah High School 9th grade boys basketball team has extended their winning streak to 5 games and pushed their overall record to 11-2 on the season thus far.

The Viking freshmen are coming off a week in which they beat Waukon, Oelwein and Prairie Du Chien.  Tough defense and a balanced offensive attack continued to be the key to the team's success in the 41-25 win over Waukon, the 41-24 win over Oelwein and the 42-41 victory over Prairie Du Chien.

Patrick Larson and Jacob Kvale led the squad in scoring over the 3 game series. Michael Peter, Drew Schwartz, and Patrick Winter have not only rounded out the scoring punch, but they dominated the boards throughout the week.

Head Coach Mark Lovelace stated, "The growth of the team has been fun to watch!  Each game it seems like there are two or three new guys that step-up and contribute to the team's success."

The freshmen will finish the season this week with games against New Hampton and Cresco--the only two teams to have beaten the Viking freshmen this season.
