Luther women's basketball team to raise money for breast cancer research
The Luther women’s basketball team in conjunction with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association  is asking all fans to wear pink to its game at 2:00 p.m. Saturday to show support for all women who have or have battled breast cancer.  Volunteers from the Decorah community will be handing out pink ribbons and offering spectators an opportunity to donate money or purchase Pink ZoneŽ t-shirts. All funds raised will be donated to a local cancer organization.

The WBCA began the WBCA Pink ZoneŽ, formerly known as "Think Pink", in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach, served as the catalyst for the initiative after her third reoccurrence of breast cancer in 2006.

In three years of conducting the fund drive, the event has raised over $2.5 million nationwide.
