| The Decorah
High School boys basketball team put up a good fight Tuesday
night against #6-ranked Charles City, but dropped a 62-53
decision to the Comets. The
Vikings gave up an early 10-1 lead, but battled back to
within three points and trailed by seven points at halftime.
Charles City led by 12 points in the middle of the 4th
quarter, but Decorah battled back to within five points,
only the falter down the stretch.
Chris Wanless led the Vikings with 16
points, with eight other Vikings entering the scoring
column. 6 foot 9 inch Nathan Buss, who will play next
year at the University of Northern Iowa, led the Comets with
31 points, while Jordan VanderWerf added 18 points.
The Vikings are now 6-8 on the season and
2-5 in the Northeast Iowa Conference. Decorah will
host Turkey Valley on Thursday night.
