9th grade girls lose to South Winn
The Decorah High School 9th grade girls basketball team was narrowly defeated by South Winn on Saturday 45-39 in overtime.  The game was tied 37-37 at the end of regulation.  The Warriors outscored the Vikings 8-2 in overtime.

Scoring for Decorah were Abby Arend with 12 points , Anna Madrigal 10, Molly Wettach 7, Micayla Christopher 4, Kayl Ingvalson 4, and Lexi Shelton with 2 points.  Leading rebounders were Kayla Ingvalson with 6 and Micayla Christopher with 6.

The Vikes were defeated 51-43 by Waverly Friday. The Vikings led 21-16 at halftime but couldn't hold on to the lead. "We were not able to control the temp0 of the game the second half and we had some defensive breakdowns that hurt us," commented Coach Rich Gaard.

Leading scorers for the Vikings were Abby Arend with 19 points and Anna Madrigal with 11 points.  Micayla Christopher had 10 rebounds.

Next action for the Vikes will be at 4:45 p.m. Thursday at Charles City.
